Kids Nutrition

As parents of a 2 year old we are constantly trying to improve our son's health through his diet and nutrition. Like most parents probably would agree, it can be challenging to get kids to eat what you want them to.  Our son takes a chewable WHOLE FOOD multivitamin from Standard Process called Catalyn daily to help keep his nutrition up.  We are always looking for easy, effective ways to further improve his snack nutrition. Recently, we were in Target and happened to notice a display of snacks in the front of the store.  Among them were many different freeze dried fruits.  We decided to give them a shot and bought several bags.  They are priced around $3.50 a bag.  Our son absolutely loves them, especially the blueberries.  He almost ate the whole bag.  It turned his whole mouth purple.  We also tried them and they tasted great.  They are light as a feather making them very easy to bring as a snack during the day.  They also don't require any freezer or refrigerator space.  We find ourselves snacking on them as well during the day.  The berries are lower in sugar than most other fruits (like bananas, apples, and mangos), They are also very high in antioxidants making them a healthier snack.  You can also add them to smoothies to kick up the nutrition content.  Again, they don't take up freezer space like our frozen berry mix we are using now (precious real estate).  Trader Joe's also sells freeze dried fruits at a good price if you are down in the Colonie or Albany area.  There is a link to the target berries below.  Happy snacking.
